I was a DJ in a former life. I was both on-air and a mobile disc jockey for parties and events. That phase of my life was back in my heathen days before I knew Christ, and having been Baptized since then I don't dwell on that sinful lifestyle very much. I do, however, have a large library of music stuck in my head, and I can tell you histories, connections, and everything else about bands and their music including lyrics, who wrote and produced, and even what the BPM is.
If I could be what I wanted to be and still be what I'm supposed to be, I would be an on-air Radio personality with my own show with music and commentary, and that's it. While I have a goal to do some of that, it's in the context of what God wants for me now, not what I want.
So below are artists and music and even videos I recommend to reinforce the ManHusbanddad lifestyle. They are what I surround myself with now, though I do have a couple of really good Pandora stations setup with some of my old music, too.
As long as you keep it in perspective, contemporary and other forms of music are fine. Just don't let it be the majority of what you listen to - whether or not your children are around.
I'll be adding to these as we go along, some new additions every week during 2016. Keep coming back!
I am open to suggestions in the comments below!

Lead Me - by Sanctus Real
When you're tired, at wit's end, or struggling with being a ManHusbandDad. Mad at your Wife? Wondering why you feel alone trying to lead your family - or maybe you haven't tried leding yet. Take four minutes for this one...it's really an anthem to and for us all...
Greater - by MercyMe
This is a great singalong with your whole family - we turne the volume way up in the car and jam! This is good for a general pick me up, and if the Devil's go you down - play it loud!
